Mounbatten Hampshire staff give Drive Personnel a ‘thumbs up’ in their new scrubs

The COVID-19 crisis has had an enormous effect on charity-funded organisations such as the Mountbatten Hampshire hospice. The closure of charity shops across the country and the cancellation of fundraising events has meant that organisations have had to publicly appeal for financial support. Personal protective equipment such as scrubs are a vital resource in care facilities and hospitals, and their absence has led to the infection of thousands of nurses, doctors, and care staff.

Following a desperate pea for more scrubs, the team at Mountbatten Hampshire were met with thousands of pounds of donations from Drive Personnel’s managing director, Chris Bryant.

Chris has a longstanding personal connection to the hospice, as he has lost several family members there including his grandfather in 1987, and his mother who passed away from bowel cancer in 2014. Chris, who regularly takes part in Mountbatten Hampshire’s lottery and Monthly Business Club, said:

“The care all my family members received and the comfort I got from knowing they were in the best possible place during their last few days and hours really stood out.

This made life just that little bit more bearable in what was the most difficult period of my life.

Ever since, I have resolved to do whatever I can to support the hospice.”

Drive Personnel also regularly sponsors fundraiser events hosted by the hospice, including the annual Christmas event Light Up a Life and Mountbatten’s Sunflower Memory Walk at Broadlands, Romsey.

Becky McGregory, Mountbatten Hampshire’s General Manager, was thrilled by the donation which will help to protect her staff. She commented:

“The ongoing support from Chris and everyone at Drive Personnel has been really amazing.

We are very much on the frontline, supporting people with coronavirus, alongside other patients who don’t have the virus but still need our care and support.

It was a priority to have all the necessary uniform and equipment we needed to keep our staff safe, so we are hugely thankful to Chris and his team.”
