For the staff at Caremark Winchester & Eastleigh who have been caring for self-isolating and high-risk patients, exhausted PPE resources from their usual supplier meant that staff were visiting the homes of patients vulnerable to coronavirus without the necessary protection. Hoping for a miracle, Kate, a Field Care Supervisor at Caremark, took to social media with a desperate plea for help, asking if anyone could assist with tracking down the vital equipment needed to protect her staff from the virus.
During this unprecedented coronavirus outbreak, key workers including hauliers and logistics teams have played a vital role in keeping essential retailers stocked and delivering life-saving supplies to medical facilities and pharmacies. Daily walkarounds are conducted by drivers to check the inside and outside of the lorry or other HGV and to confirm that the vehicle is safe to drive. It is the responsibility of the driver to thoroughly check their vehicles every working day or be at risk of facing financial penalties.
